Evolutionary suicide is a term used to describe the phenomenon wherein a species acts in a way that might ultimately lead to their own extinction over time. However, there are several other terms that can be used interchangeably with this concept. For instance, some scholars denote it as the "Red Queen effect", which refers to a situation where an entity has to continually evolve or die as other entities are also evolving. Another word for this concept is "Darwinian trap", which occurs when a species over-exploits resources to the point that it cannot sustain itself, leading to consequences as extinction. Furthermore, it is also called "maladaptive behavior" when an entity acts in a way that is unhelpful for their own survival.
