Seadrift is a term used to describe the accumulation of sand and debris on the shorelines of lakes, rivers and oceans. Synonyms for seadrift include sandbar, shoal, bank, beach, dune, spit, and reef. A sandbar is a submerged or partly emerged ridge of sand or coarse sediment that forms in shallow water. A shoal is a sandbank that constitutes a hazard to navigation.
