Intercoastal is a term used to describe the region between two coasts. It is commonly used to refer to a waterway or a stretch of land located in between two coastlines, such as the Intracoastal Waterway in the United States. There are several synonyms for this term, including littoral, coastal, shore, and seaside. Each of these words describes a similar concept, referring to the area between the land and water along a coast. Other synonyms for intercoastal include bayou, estuary, inlet and fjord, each referring to a specific type of body of water that can be found between two coasts.
